Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Rocky Mountain Race Week is in the books, and we were traveling the route with all these folks so we could bring you the FREE livestream that we had going all week long. It was a week full of fun, adventures, carnage, and more, but even if you were there you wouldn’t have been able to see it all. There is that much going on! But thanks to the folks at Motion Raceworks we’ve got more cool video coverage from the entire week and we’re going to share it all with you one day at a time. They were on-site with their parts merch trailer and were helping people out with great stuff all week long. This is the first video from Day One at Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma, which means everyone is racing and there is no on road carnage or anything yet. This is the day where everyone thinks everything is great and that they can win this whole thing. Spirits are high. At least until the racing gets going.

Why? Because some of these poor folks are going to tear their stuff up before they ever get to leave the first track. The good news is that they have all night to work on them because we don’t leave for the next track until the next morning, and the drive isn’t horrible from Thunder Valley to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. Plus, there is the World’s Largest Summit Racing Equipment store on the way and it’s full of great parts to fix most anything.

Between Summit and the Motion Raceworks trailer full of parts, there was no shortage of new stuff going on hot rods Sunday night.

Here is the video description:

Race Photos: More Drag Racing Action From LSFest West At The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway!

Race Photos: More Drag Racing Action From LSFest West At The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway!

These are the last drag racing photos we’ve got from Holley’s LSFest West in Las Vegas. We’ve still got a couple more autocross galleries to run this weekend, but if you want wheels up doorslammer drag racing then this is the last hoorah my friends. Take a look at what we’ve got, cause there are some cool rides here, and don’t forget to click and check them all out!

IF YOU MISSED ANY OF OUR PREVIOUS PHOTOS FROM LSFEST WEST, CLICK HERE

LSFest is a spectacle people and that was never more apparent than in Las Vegas during the 2021 LSFest West event held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With thousands of cars, and tens of thousands of spectators, it was an event of epic proportions even during these COVID times. Thanks to a great partnership between Holley’s production team, track staff at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, along with local, county and state health organizations, this event was able to happen. And happen it did. There were cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, buggies, exotics, pre-runners, race trucks, and everything in between on site to celebrate everything you can do with LS power. We’re talking Drag Racing, Autocross, 3S Speed Stop, Donuts, Burnouts, Drifting, Sideshow, Truck Jumps, Dyno pulls, Manufacturers Midway and tons of food and drink. This is an event like none other and has a very different personality than LSFest East in Bowling Green Kentucky. If you have only been to one, you definitely need to get to the other.

Everyone that’s anyone wants to be at LSFest and this weekend was no different. YouTube stars from B is for Build, Cleetus McFarland, Blake Wilkey, and more were on hand to throw down, have fun, and cut loose in Vegas. After having to cancel the 2020 show, despite trying to reschedule, there were fans, racers, and enthusiasts from all over the country clamoring to get to Las Vegas for this year’s event. Because no on site ticket sales were allowed, all entries were pre-entry and everyone had to buy their spectator tickets ahead as well. After a bustling Friday, Saturday morning started with record numbers coming through the gates for an actual sold out crowd. And we’re not talking about the BS sold out claims you get from some promoters, we’re talking actually sold out crowd and it was epic to see.

Update: We Got More Info On Wes Littrell’s Home Built Retro Drag Special. Its Ford Powered, Blown, And Hauls Ass. We Love It!

Update: We Got More Info On Wes Littrell’s Home Built Retro Drag Special. Its Ford Powered, Blown, And Hauls Ass. We Love It!

I wish I had more to tell you about Wes Littrell’s bitchin machine, but it was like pulling teeth to get any details from the guy that sent us the video link. What I do know is that this sucker is home built, has the feeling of an C-cab roadster with a touch of comp coupe and some funny car thrown into the mix. Who knows what the inspiration was, but I do like it. The video below shows a couple of runs at Bonne Terre Dragstrip In Bonne Terre, Missouri where this bad boy is running in the 4’s. I think these are some of the first runs with this one because it is a little soft early and definitely not running as hard as we bet it ultimately can. It certainly doesn’t seem like he’s leaving off the trans brake, so I think these sucker will be a bad ass when set on kill.

We do know that it has 588 cubic inches of Ford between the frame rails, and the blower on top of it is a 14-71 which we totally approve of. The mechanical injection isn’t a bad touch either. I know nothing about the trans and the rest of the drivetrain, but I expect it’s got a C6 and a 9 inch.

Editor’s Note: After posting this up yesterday we got an email from Wes with more info about the car, as well as some cool photos.

Here is what Wes sent us.

This is Wes Littrell the owner of the truck. It’s completely homemade 588 ci BBF powered, A460 block, 10.5-1 comp,   Trickflow A460 heads, eliminator blower intake, Littlefield hi helix mag blower, 15% over. 14 lbs of boost. Very mild tune. Powerglide transmission built by me with all parts and converter supplied by BTE. It weighs around 2900 with the driver. I built and fabricated everything. Engine, transmission, narrowed the rear axle, strut front end and all the chassis. The 4.90’s passes were footbrake with slicks that are completely shot. I appreciate you sharing the footage. Here’s a picture from a couple years ago from Street Outlaws. It was when it was a pickup with a straight axle and 618 alcohol injected engine. Ran 5.30’s back then. I have three race trucks. One had the 618 in it and looks very similar and the other one is the twin engine that looks like the pickup. I believe that you guys shared a video of them a couple years ago. I also have three homemade tow rigs. I just enjoy fabrication and being different.

Fabrication Spotlight: Dennis Taylor Knows How To Get Down With Some Dual Fuel Tanks

I’ve said it plenty of times, Hot Rods by Dennis Taylor is one of the coolest hot rod shops in the country. Besides the fact that it is a full family affair, Dennis himself is arguably one of the most talented builders around. I’m lucky enough to have been around countless high quality car builders, some of whom have won award after award, but it is incredibly rare to find any that finish every single stage of a build in house like Dennis does. I say this, because Dennis is the guy doing the fabrication, bodywork, engine work, paint work, wiring, upholstery, assembly, and setup. I mean everything. Not his crew, but him. Yes, he’s trained his wife Deb to be an awesome fiberglass woman, and daughter Alex is also in the shop working quite often, but Dennis is a guy that can, and does, build cars from start to finish himself. And it is awesome to watch.

So today I’m going to spotlight something Dennis just finished up for fellow Rocky Mountain Race Weeker Clint Sodowsky. It’s a new fuel cell for his bad ass 1968 Camaro, but not just any fuel cell. This one has a 15 gallon side and a 5 gallon side. One for pump gas and one for race fuel.

Here is the info from Clint and from Dennis.

If you want to reach out to Dennis about a project, CLICK HERE TO VISIT HIS FACEBOOK PAGE TO CALL OR SEND A MESSAGE

Clint’s Post from Facebook: “Dennis Taylor is so talented ! He built me a dual pump fuel cell for Rocky Mountain Race Week. On the 15 gallon side with Holley dual brushless pumps for street driving and if needed still enough pump to handle big power. Race side is 5 gallons with an Aeromotive 10.0 gpm, which can also be used to street drive if any thing happens.”

Dennis’ Post from Facebook: “When you drive and drag it can be complicated. 🤣 Wrapping up a new dual street/strip tank for our good buddy Clint Sodowsky and his badass fast 68 Camaro.”

Murder Nova’s LS/Procharged 1955 Chevy Maiden Voyage! This Thing Is ROWDY!

Murder Nova’s LS/Procharged 1955 Chevy Maiden Voyage! This Thing Is ROWDY!

I like Rowdy. Especially ProCharged rowdy. I know what that is like because I have a small block with one on it and the thing is just plain nasty, in all the right ways. Shawn and the rest of the Murder Nova gang have been working on this ’55 Chevy for a while now and every time they get something else done on it there seems to be a little more excitement about actually getting to drive it. Well, this is the video. The one where driving the ’55 actually happens! Shawn last drove this car 11 years ago, and while it was driven on the street a bit then, it was definitely not a “street car”.

Hang out with the guys as they build a set of headers for this thing, button up the rest of the little stuff, figure out why one hole isn’t firing, and then light this bad boy off and take it for a cruise around town. Remember, street car, so they are running this one on E85 straight from the pump.  I don’t know how good that E85 is that they are putting in, but it is certainly good enough for cruising around town. I can’t wait to see the first street hits and the fun they have while perfecting their shenaniganary.

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

I’ve driven dragsters, but my first love are door cars. They are fun, can be as quick as you want to go, and they just feel right. I do like the occasional roadster as well, but prefer those with the driver on one side or the other instead of sitting in the middle like a funny car or altered. Good thing for me that the American Door Slammer Nationals are LIVE this weekend thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Any door car. Any left hand drive roadster. Any reason to have fun. This is a must watch event that you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Held at the famed Piedmont Dragway, this Loose Rocker Promotions event is one of the highlights of 2020. During a year where we have all been cooped up and have had so many cancelled events, this is one of those that feels really good to see happening before we get into the final weekends of racing for 2020. This is going to be a year to remember for sure, and whoever wins this event is going to remember it because of the real money they got to put into their pocket.

Watch all the racing LIVE today and tomorrow right here. And thanks again to MotorManiaTV for sharing this great action with the world for FREE!

SDBA Drag Boat Races Will Be LIVE Here On BANGshift Starting Sunday Morning!

SDBA Drag Boat Races Will Be LIVE Here On BANGshift Starting Sunday Morning!

That’s right folks, we’ve got more Southern Drag Boat Association racing coming to you live right here at BANGshift.com. We were live Saturday morning and will be live again Sunday morning around 9 am Central Time. We had an awesome time bringing you their Paris Texas event a few months ago and are happy to announce that their El Reno Oklahoma event this Saturday and Sunday will be LIVE in it’s entirety right here! We cannot stress enough just how cool it is to watch the drag boats hauling ass across the water. We’re talking 3 second 1/8 mile boats, and all kinds of combinations. Hydros, Jets, Flat bottoms, Pro Mods, Super Stock, and so much more. The racing action is fun, the scenery is cool, and the people are an absolute riot.

When we did the event in Paris, the welcome that we got from everyone at the SDBA, and the racers in general, was absolutely amazing. They treated us like family, fed us, welcomed us with open arms, and were so genuinely thrilled to have us on site that most were acting like kids in a candy store.

This weekend is supposed to be in the low 80’s, with great conditions for racing on the water, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of record breaking runs we might see. Tune in Saturday morning, at 8 am Central, as we kick off the racing action. You won’t want to miss it.
