Learn Why the McLaren Elva is Such an Important Automobile

McLaren Beverly Hills has created an evocative video that celebrates the Elva and its heritage.

There’s no denying the fact that the McLaren Elva was inspired by classic race cars from the automaker. Its speedster design, silhouette, and extreme power output (804 horsepower) are all aspects you would expect from a race but the Elva puts it all together in a street-legal package. McLaren Beverly Hills has just published a video that celebrates the link between the Elva and McLaren’s storied history. In the video, found above, you’ll hear from F1 CEO, Zak Brown, McLaren Indy 500 winner, Jonny Rutherford, and former McLaren F1 driver, JP Montoya.

‘’Everything about McLaren is authenticity, Elva represents that in the purest and most perfect sense from both the driving dynamics and design to the technology that’s in it.’’Ansar Ali, Managing Director, McLaren Special Operations

McLaren 765LT vs 1,200 HP Dodge Demon

We are now living in an age of 8-second street machines, so how does a McLaren 765LT compare to a 1,200 horsepower Dodge Demon. Our friend Brooks invited two flavors of Demon to Palm Beach Raceway to set the record straight. One is a bone-stock example with a gutted interior and the other is the famous Demonology. His channel shows what it takes to get the big Challenger into the 8’s, and it ain’t easy. Winter is over, so heat was working against both cars to limit boost and ignition timing. Only 3,000 Demons were offered in the U.S. while McLaren only built 765 examples of the Long Tail for the world. Tell us which car you prefer in the comments below and keep the racing at the track.

McLaren 720S GT3X is What Happens When There Are No Rules

The new McLaren 720S GT3X is what happens when an automaker that creates race cars wants to break the rules. More specifically, the 720S GT3X is the GT3 car but without the rules and limitations that racing series slaps on. While it looks similar to the GT3 car, thanks to the aero packages, it’s what’s inside that makes this supercar so insane. First up is the power M840T 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine which has been increased to 720 horsepower. Rob Bell, a McLaren Factory Driver, notes in the video up above that this car has been given an extra 200 hp and it truly brings the GT3X to a new level. An extra 30 hp can be added with the press of the “Push-to-pass” button. Other modifications include the bigger turbos, bigger manifolds, upgrade cooling system and more. Another very awesome addition is the fact that this 720S GT3X can seat more than one person. Yes, the driver can take a passenger out for a spin.

McLaren Unveils Lighter & Stronger Hybrid Chassis

Engineers in Sheffield have been burning the candle at both ends. Because McLaren is transforming to a hybrid and electric lineup, CEO Mike Flewitt asked them for no compromises. So a logical starting point is their renowned carbon fiber chassis. Reducing weight was a major concern as their upcoming models will have several times more battery capacity as the 2015 McLaren P1 for sale.

It will be capable of hybrid or EV power, and it has a modular layout to fit rear or AWD cars. Here is what Mr. Flewitt had to say:“The new ground-breaking vehicle architecture is every bit as revolutionary as the MonoCell chassis we introduced with the company’s first car, the 12C, when we first embarked on making production vehicles a decade ago.“This new, ultra-lightweight carbon fibre chassis boasts greater structural integrity and higher levels of quality than ever before with our new MCTC facility quickly becoming recognized as a global center of excellence in composite materials science and manufacturing.

“Our advanced expertize in lightweight composites processes and manufacturing combined with our experience in cutting-edge battery technology and high-performance hybrid propulsion systems means we are ideally placed to deliver to customers levels of electrified high-performance motoring that until now have simply been unattainable.”The first car on this chassis is well into development and we will see it early next year.
