Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Rocky Mountain Race Week is in the books, and we were traveling the route with all these folks so we could bring you the FREE livestream that we had going all week long. It was a week full of fun, adventures, carnage, and more, but even if you were there you wouldn’t have been able to see it all. There is that much going on! But thanks to the folks at Motion Raceworks we’ve got more cool video coverage from the entire week and we’re going to share it all with you one day at a time. They were on-site with their parts merch trailer and were helping people out with great stuff all week long. This is the first video from Day One at Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma, which means everyone is racing and there is no on road carnage or anything yet. This is the day where everyone thinks everything is great and that they can win this whole thing. Spirits are high. At least until the racing gets going.

Why? Because some of these poor folks are going to tear their stuff up before they ever get to leave the first track. The good news is that they have all night to work on them because we don’t leave for the next track until the next morning, and the drive isn’t horrible from Thunder Valley to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. Plus, there is the World’s Largest Summit Racing Equipment store on the way and it’s full of great parts to fix most anything.

Between Summit and the Motion Raceworks trailer full of parts, there was no shortage of new stuff going on hot rods Sunday night.

Update: We Got More Info On Wes Littrell’s Home Built Retro Drag Special. Its Ford Powered, Blown, And Hauls Ass. We Love It!

Update: We Got More Info On Wes Littrell’s Home Built Retro Drag Special. Its Ford Powered, Blown, And Hauls Ass. We Love It!

I wish I had more to tell you about Wes Littrell’s bitchin machine, but it was like pulling teeth to get any details from the guy that sent us the video link. What I do know is that this sucker is home built, has the feeling of an C-cab roadster with a touch of comp coupe and some funny car thrown into the mix. Who knows what the inspiration was, but I do like it. The video below shows a couple of runs at Bonne Terre Dragstrip In Bonne Terre, Missouri where this bad boy is running in the 4’s. I think these are some of the first runs with this one because it is a little soft early and definitely not running as hard as we bet it ultimately can. It certainly doesn’t seem like he’s leaving off the trans brake, so I think these sucker will be a bad ass when set on kill.

We do know that it has 588 cubic inches of Ford between the frame rails, and the blower on top of it is a 14-71 which we totally approve of. The mechanical injection isn’t a bad touch either. I know nothing about the trans and the rest of the drivetrain, but I expect it’s got a C6 and a 9 inch.

Editor’s Note: After posting this up yesterday we got an email from Wes with more info about the car, as well as some cool photos.

Here is what Wes sent us.

This is Wes Littrell the owner of the truck. It’s completely homemade 588 ci BBF powered, A460 block, 10.5-1 comp,   Trickflow A460 heads, eliminator blower intake, Littlefield hi helix mag blower, 15% over. 14 lbs of boost. Very mild tune. Powerglide transmission built by me with all parts and converter supplied by BTE. It weighs around 2900 with the driver. I built and fabricated everything. Engine, transmission, narrowed the rear axle, strut front end and all the chassis. The 4.90’s passes were footbrake with slicks that are completely shot. I appreciate you sharing the footage. Here’s a picture from a couple years ago from Street Outlaws. It was when it was a pickup with a straight axle and 618 alcohol injected engine. Ran 5.30’s back then. I have three race trucks. One had the 618 in it and looks very similar and the other one is the twin engine that looks like the pickup. I believe that you guys shared a video of them a couple years ago. I also have three homemade tow rigs. I just enjoy fabrication and being different.

Street Racing Action From The Small Tire Short Notice KC Cash Days In Mexico

Street Racing Action From The Small Tire Short Notice KC Cash Days In Mexico

The Wyco Racing Small Tire Short Notice Cash Days event looked to have a very diverse group of racers ready to throw down on the street. The location was interesting as well, and in this great video from Urban Hillbilly Videos you’ll get to see all the action from start to finish. And like I said, there are some interesting cars at this one. Sure you are going to see Camaros and Mustangs and Novas oh my, but you are also going to see interesting imports, Mopars, trucks, and more. This is a cool video that is fun to watch. And the road? WTF are they thinking? This thing goes up and then down before a huge hill after the finish line. I guess it helps you slow down quick, but man it looks like a weird place to race.

Parts, Parts, And More Parts! Alex Taylor’s 6-second 1955 Chevy Project Gets Big Turbos, And All Kinds Of Other Goodies Plus More Chassis Work!

Parts, Parts, And More Parts! Alex Taylor’s 6-second 1955 Chevy Project Gets Big Turbos, And All Kinds Of Other Goodies Plus More Chassis Work!

It’s on! Alex and Dennis Taylor are in a mad thrash to get Alex’s newest project, her big tire 1955 Chevrolet, ready to run in the 6’s and go 200 mph in the quarter. To do that requires lots of fabrication the chassis, which we’ve been seeing happening over the past few weeks, but it also takes big power and lots of parts to make and support that power. This beast is going to have a big set of Precision Turbos, Holley EFI, QA1 Shocks, AFR heads, and so much more. Some of those parts are showing up already and others are on order right now. This is an exciting time in a project because it feels like Christmas when the new parts come in. Of course there is still a ton of fabrication work to be done, but they are making good progress.

It always seems like the Taylors do this stuff so easy, because they have the right tools, the right equipment, and the right skills to utilize all of it. I’m pretty excited to see this project progress and can’t wait to see it run down the track and turn heads on the highway. I know that when it is done it will be something to see.

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

Watch The American Door Slammer Nationals LIVE Right Here!

I’ve driven dragsters, but my first love are door cars. They are fun, can be as quick as you want to go, and they just feel right. I do like the occasional roadster as well, but prefer those with the driver on one side or the other instead of sitting in the middle like a funny car or altered. Good thing for me that the American Door Slammer Nationals are LIVE this weekend thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Any door car. Any left hand drive roadster. Any reason to have fun. This is a must watch event that you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Held at the famed Piedmont Dragway, this Loose Rocker Promotions event is one of the highlights of 2020. During a year where we have all been cooped up and have had so many cancelled events, this is one of those that feels really good to see happening before we get into the final weekends of racing for 2020. This is going to be a year to remember for sure, and whoever wins this event is going to remember it because of the real money they got to put into their pocket.

Watch all the racing LIVE today and tomorrow right here. And thanks again to MotorManiaTV for sharing this great action with the world for FREE!

Awesome Build: Watch This Operational Scale Model Of A Rotary Engine Constructed With Lego Blocks!

Awesome Build: Watch This Operational Scale Model Of A Rotary Engine Constructed With Lego Blocks!

This is easily one of the most awesome Lego builds we have ever seen. We know we had some rotary stuff on the front page today already but this is in a different league. The whole engine is custom built from the imagination of the guy snapping the blocks together, to start. This is not a kit, this is not something already made a video about. From the creation of the rotor itself to the fact that this thing has “spark plugs” intake and exhaust ports, the right eccentric travel and the list goes on and on, your mind will be blown like ours.

There may be kids who watch this video and have a lightbulb come on in their minds about how one of these weird little engines work. In fact, they aren’t so weird when you see a happy little version of one, built of out of Lego blocks whirring away. This guy even went so far as to include the tip seals on the rotor in his build!

The addition of the “spark” light is a big one here because there are some animations that show the cycle of a rotary engine but when he dims the lights and then cranks the engine up with the little cam and rocker arm to trigger the light up block, things go from interesting to completely awesome.

We have no idea how many hours are in this build but what a teaching tool. I watched this with my kids and both of them were able to see what exactly happens inside the engine and they were both 100% more understanding of a rotary engine than they were after I explained it to them 100 times.

THIS is great!

Press play below to see this incredible scale model rotary engine built from Lego!

Master Class: This Video From Full Boost On Building High Horsepower Street Engines Is Spectacular

Master Class: This Video From Full Boost On Building High Horsepower Street Engines Is Spectacular

This is the opposite of a kind of wham-bam engine building video. If anything this is a slow moving, artfully edited, content packed trip through the mind, manner, and process of a truly awesome engine builder as he assembles a killer street engine for a customer. We’re talking about an 800hp naturally aspirated engine that lands in an amazing Ford Falcon XB in Australia.

The engine builder is also a well known Aussie in the form of Frank Marchese at Dandy Engines. We have shown you zillions of videos from Australia that have dandy engines front and center in drag race cars, street cars, burnout cars and more. This time it’s a killer pro touring style car that gets the bullet he builds.

This video isn’t about torque specs and that kind of thing, it’s way more about creating the package that will make the power and make it in a way that the customer can use and enjoy. There’s a great walk through the parts and pieces, the processes that Frank employs, and all of that good stuff.

To us, this is an engine video on the next level. If you truly appreciate the time and effort that go into crafting something like this, you’ll dig the video. Much like building an engine, the stuff that takes time and requires an eye for detail can define the ultimate success of the project. This is a wonderful piece to watch.

Press play below for a legit master class in engine building – wonderful video –
